Department of Economics

Supplying the Skills in Demand

The LSU Department of Economics is committed to excellence in teaching and research. Our goal is to provide students with analytic skills and a breadth of economic understanding that prepares them for careers in business, government, or for further study in economics, law, or public policy. Frequently, our faculty are honored with teaching awards, publish in prestigious journals, and provide analysis used by key policymakers. Several faculty serve as editors of professional journals.

Our programs teach students how to analyze complex economic problems, think critically, learn beyond the confines of a classroom, and be adaptable to the ever-changing demands of the workplace and global market.
