LSU Symphonic Band
About the Ensemble
The LSU Symphonic Band is the largest concert organization in the Department of Bands and is comprised of musicians from academic disciplines across the entire university, as well as music majors looking to refine their skills on a secondary instrument. The ensemble performs classic repertoire of original band music in addition to select orchestral and keyboard transcriptions.
The LSU Symphonic Band averages 70 - 100 musicians each year and rehearses Mondays from 3:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the fall, and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the spring. Auditions are open to all interested students. The course number for the ensemble is MUS 4252.
The LSU Symphonic Band is under the direction of Dr. Kelvin Jones, Assistant Director of Bands.
