"Chicago PD" Actor LaRoyce Hawkins Conducts Workshop at LSU Theatre's Studio Theatre
Baton Rouge, LA – June 27, 2023 - LSU Theatre was thrilled to host "Chicago PD"’s
LaRoyce Hawkins to conduct a workshop for the School of Theatre’s MFA Acting program
in its Studio Theatre.
LaRoyce Hawkins is widely recognized for his captivating and relatable performance
as Officer Kevin Atwater in the long running hit NBC series "Chicago PD."
Working with our MFA Acting cohort, LaRoyce used a mix of keenly observed lessons
in the life of an actor with work on scenes by the students.
"We were honored and delighted to have LaRoyce Hawkins join us for this special workshop,"
said Vastine Stabler, the Managing Artistic Director of the LSU Theatre. "His talent
and dedication to his craft are inspiring, and our students were enthralled by his
presentation."
The workshop focused on practical exercises, group discussions, and one-on-one interactions,
providing students with a hands-on experience to enhance their understanding and skills.
By working closely with Hawkins, the MFA Acting program students gained valuable insights
into the industry.

BIOGRAPHY
LaRoyce Hawkins is an American actor, poet, and musician, best known for his portrayal
of Officer Kevin Atwater on the hit television series "Chicago P.D." He was born on
May 4, 1988, in Harvey, Illinois, and grew up in the Chicago area.
From an early age, Hawkins showed a passion for performing arts and creative expression.
He attended Thornton High School, where he discovered his love for acting and participated
in various school plays and theater productions. Hawkins' talent and dedication were
evident, and he knew that he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After high school, Hawkins honed his acting skills by studying at the Illinois State
