AACC Ambassadors
The Clarence L. Barney Jr. African American Cultural Center (AACC) Ambassadors are a group of student representatives selected to help spread the word about the educational, cultural, and social services provided by the AACC and the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA). As an Ambassador, students are responsible for helping to plan, promote, and work events sponsored by the AACC, provide tours of the Center, and to act as liaisons between the LSU and Baton Rouge communities and the Cultural Center.
Black History Month Committee (BHM)
The Black History Month Committee is a student fostered organization advised by the Clarence L. Barney Jr. African American Cultural Center. The organization's mission is to provide educational and informative programs that help celebrate the outstanding achievements and strides of African Americans, not only during Black History Month but throughout the entire year. Some of our signature programs held annually are the Mr. and Miss Imani Scholarship Pageant, Sankofa Poetry & Open Mic Night and College Reunion. Black Student Union (BSU)
The purpose of the Black Student Union is to represent the interest of the Black student populace at all times by emphasizing political, community, social, and educational concerns while promoting the general welfare of the Black student populace. By fostering communication between the Black Student Union and the university, and providing a central agency through which Black students may voice their opinion and gain support on any and all matters, the Black Student Union serves as the umbrella organization to all Black student organizations on campus.
