Chief Counsel - Health Science Center Shreveport
Carranza is the lead counsel for the LSU Health Science Center Shreveport. He provides counsel on a broad range of issues related to an academic research healthcare setting.
Carranza has practiced law for 25 years specializing in complex commercial litigation. His prior experience includes a partnership at the law firm Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., in Birmingham, Alabama, and serving as director of litigation for a Fortune 100 financial services company based in New York. In addition, Carranza has been of counsel to major national and international law firms, taught federal jurisdiction and conflict of laws as an adjunct professor, and served as an assistant district attorney prosecuting public corruption cases.
Carranza has an ongoing commitment to public service as evidenced by his continuing pro bono work and service on several non-profit boards. He is a Shreveport native and his first job in high school was working as a lab assistant in the medical school at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport.
