Withdrawal Policy: Faculty-Led Programs

Thailand beach sunset with treesWe hope that none of the students who sign up for faculty-led will drop out, but sometimes things come up. If you decide to withdraw from your program, this is the procedure you need to follow and the payment schedule associated with withdrawing from a program.

To withdraw from a program, please choose one of the following options:

  • Send a signed and dated letter to APA stating that you wish to be withdrawn from the program. You can either drop it off in 101 Hatcher Hall or mail it to:

    Academic Programs Abroad
    101 Hatcher Hall
    Baton Rouge, LA 70803
  • Send an email from your myLSU account to summerabroad@lsu.edu stating that you will no longer be participating in the program. Emails will only be accepted from myLSU accounts (these email accounts are verified by the University).

The official date of your withdrawal will be the date on which your written withdrawal is received by APA. If your letter has one date, but the date on which it was received by APA is a later date, the date on which it was received in the APA office will be used to determine where you fall in the payment schedule.

Payment Schedule

Haiti coastlineBeginning in the spring, we must make payments to service providers on your behalf. These payments are not refundable. The last day that you can withdraw from a 2023 faculty-led program and not owe anything is March 210, 2023.

After that date, you will be responsible for making payments on your study abroad program, even if you do not go on the program. The amount that you will owe is based on the date on which you withdraw. The schedule of payments is:

Date Withdrawal Costs
Withdrawal after March 10, 2023 25% of program fee will be paid
Withdrawal after April 10, 2023 50% of program fee will be paid
Within 30 days of the start of the program 100% of program fee will be paid

Note: Some faculty-led programs may have a different withdrawal schedule. For program-specific information on withdrawing from the program, please visit the program’s website.

The later you withdraw from the program, the more you will have to pay (because the more we will have already paid on your behalf). These payments will be added to your LSU billing statement at the time that APA receives your written withdrawal.
