LSU LGBTQ+ Project and Safe Space Campaign

The Office of Multicultural Affairs’ LGBTQ+ Project actively works to make LSU a safer space for all students regardless of sexuality, gender identity, and gender expression. The Project emphasizes providing educational opportunities, ongoing professional development, and programming for students, staff, faculty and administration about the unique challenges that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals and their allies often encounter.

First Contact

First Contact is designed for students who are in need of guidance and support as they begin to encounter the LGBTQ+ community. First Contact is an opportunity for interested students to be paired up with a trained peer contact. Students that are either out, in the closet, or simply questioning benefit from having one on one guidance from a peer that has experience with coming out and the LGBTQ+ community at LSU.
