LSU's online master's degree in education program has been ranked 11th, and the master's degree in social work program has been ranked 12th in the country.
BATON ROUGE – Two LSU Online degree programs were recently ranked among the top 20 online programs in the county. BestColleges.com has ranked LSU’s master’s degree in education program 11th overall, and Affordable Colleges Online has ranked LSU’s master’s degree in social work program 12th overall.
“These rankings testify to our faculty cadre of nationally renowned scholars and top-notch practitioners dedicated to building online learners’ competencies in leadership,” said Louanne Bergman, director of LSU Online. “Our learners who encounter multiple life demands can conveniently access our fully online, rigorous programs to receive a top-tier LSU education.”
BestColleges.com reviewed online master’s degree programs based on a school’s academic quality, affordability and student experience and online offerings. For the 2016 rankings, BestColleges.com compiled information collected from IPEDS and the College Navigator, with the most recent information available used. LSU was also featured in BestColleges.com’s listing of Best Online Colleges in Louisiana.
LSU Online’s master’s degree in education program includes options for a number of degrees, including Master of Education in educational leadership, Master of Arts in education with a specialization in higher education administration, Master of Science in human resource education with a concentration in human resource and leadership development and Master of Science in human resource education with a concentration in workforce development.
In order for universities to qualify for the Affordable Colleges Online ranking, they must be public, not for profit, institutions and offer at least five online master’s degrees. Qualifying schools were then evaluated based on the count of online master’s degrees available; graduate tuition and fees; academic and career counseling services; job placement for graduates; and Affordable Colleges Online Peer-Based Value, which calculates the overall value or “bang for your buck” of an online degree. Affordable Colleges Online utilizes data available from IPEDS, NCES, Carnegie Classification and PayScale.com.
