The Office of Institutional Effectiveness offers workshops through out the academic year on student learning assessment and the assessment software utilized by LSU. Planning & Self- Study

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness has moved to a new reporting system, Planning & Self-Study. Open labs will be offered to ensure assessment leads are well prepared for reporting. If you would like to schedule a 1:1 consultation, please contact Rachel May directly for scheduling. 

Planning & Self-Study - Open Labs 

Open labs will be held for Planning & Self Study, a new reporting system for degree and stand-alone certificate program assessment and integrative learning core course assessment. Users of the system may arrive at any time during the 2-hour time-frame. The open labs will follow an open-ended format and will focus on addressing participants’ questions as they enter their assessment reports. Each participant must bring their own computer and any supporting materials needed. 

CASLA Certificate Sessions

The Certificate of Achievement in Student Learning Assessment (CASLA) is offered as recognition of members of the LSU community who have completed the scaffolded series of sessions necessary to earn the certificate. Sessions must be taken in order to complete the CASLA certificate. Contact OIE for questions.

Session 1: Student Learning Assessment: Foundation and Fundamentals (1 hour)

Foundation and Fundamentals, is the first in the series of five scaffolded sessions. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to: define assessment, describe the value of assessment, and understand the assessment process at LSU.  **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

Session 2: Student Learning Assessment: Planning, Annual Reporting and Impact Reporting (1.5 hours)

Planning, Annual Reporting, and Impact Reporting, is the second in the series of five scaffolded sessions. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to: write meaningful assessment plans, annual student learning assessment reports, and program impact reports.  **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

Session 3: Student Learning Assessment: Rubric Development (1 hour)

Rubric Development, is the third in the series of five scaffolded sessions. Rubrics are valuable tools in assessing student learning as they help make grading consistent and fair, clarify expectations for both students and faculty, and help identify areas of improvement for the program. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will be able to classify varying types of rubrics and construct a rubric that can be used for assessment. **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. ** 

Session 4: Student Learning Assessment: Using Evidence to Improve Learning (1 hour)

Using Evidence to Improve Learning, is the fourth in the series of five scaffolded sessions. Upon successful completion of this session, participants will discuss the appropriateness of evidence collected, how using multiple measures and integrating student learning data with institutional data can help tell your program/unit story, and discuss common barriers often found when collecting evidence for student learning assessment purposes. **Any workshop without registrants 24 hours in advance will be canceled. **  

Session 5: Student Learning Assessment: Actionable Insights (1 hour)

Actionable Insights, is the fifth in the series of five scaffolded sessions.
