The mission of the Office of Innovation & Technology Commercialization (ITC) is to
effectively commercialize inventions and discoveries emerging from research and other
scholarly activities conducted at this great University. They act as a bridge between
the University research community and commercialization partners to facilitate the
transfer of intellectual property created at LSU. This mission supports LSU’s goal
of maximizing its impact on the intellectual, economic, and social development of
Louisiana and beyond an aim of the University Flagship 2020 Agenda.
Since the Louisiana Business & Technology Center (LBTC) was established 26 years ago,
we have continued to foster growth in new businesses, spur economic diversification
and expand Louisiana’s economy. The LBTC has won national and international recognition
as one of the nation’s top technology business incubators. A few of the incubator’s
most recent awards include 2013 AURP Emerging Research Park of the Year (With the
LSU Innovation Park), 2009 NBIA most innovative program, 2009 EDA Excellence in Economic
Development, 2007 Federal Lab Consortium Technology Transfer Outstanding Service Award,
the 2007 Southern Growth Policies Board Innovator Award, and the 2005 NBIA Incubator
of the Year (out of 1200 Incubators internationally).
The Office of Industry Engagement facilitates university-wide partnerships with corporations
and private foundations in all areas that add value to these organizations and the
flagship university in terms of recruiting, research, education, outreach, employee
training, environmental action, and marketing.
