Provost's Fund: Conference Support Fund

Academic conferences, symposia, and lectureship series and important tools in the dissemination of research, scholarship and creative activity. The Office of Research & Economic Development has established a matching fund to help underwrite the cost of hosting such events here at LSU.

Scope and Funding

Awards will provide a 1:1 match up to $10,000 to supplement support from a department or college for the purpose of hosting an academic conference, symposia, lectureship series or a meeting of a regional, national or international organization aiming to gather researchers, scholars, and artists from outside the university for an on-campus event. The primary source of funding must come from the applicant’s department or college. Up to $10,000 will be provided on a competitive basis and upon demonstration that the event will enhance the experiences and research of our faculty and students.

Allowable expenses include, but are not limited to, travel expenses of guest speakers or artists, equipment or facility rentals, publication costs and professional service fees.

This program is open to tenured and tenure-track faculty at LSU A&M.

Applications for this program will be accepted on a rolling basis through the LSU Internal Grants & Competition Portal. Proposals must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the start of the event or activity and must conclude by the close of the fiscal year (June 30). It is recommended however that applications be submitted near the beginning of the planning process.
