General Education Requirements

• All LSU degree programs include the completion of 39 hours of general education courses across six areas of focus: English Composition, Analytical Reasoning, Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. Course options for each area can be found in the LSU General Catalog. For an overview of the General Education Requirements, please watch the video below. 
• While some students must complete the 39 general education requirements, some majors require students to complete specific courses in certain categories. For example, business majors must complete MATH 1021 & MATH 1431 as their General Education Analytical Reasoning Courses while Kinesiology majors must complete MATH 1021 and MATH 1022 for this same requirement. Refer to your Recommended Path for information on requirements for your major.
